Make the Switch To Clean Ingredients

Make the Switch To Clean Ingredients

The largest and most accessible organ of the human body is the skin. Your skin comes into contact with numerous elements throughout the day, including the products you choose to apply. The importance of skincare has been a heavily recognized topic throughout recent years, but a change of perspective has developed among the skincare industry and its consumers. This shift consists of knowing what ingredients formulate the products you place on your most delicate asset.

Lathering up with an aromatic body wash is an enjoyable moment in a shower routine, but most chemicals found in fragranced soaps are harmful and irritating to the skin. Using a body wash that is free of parabens, dyes, and sulfates is very important in protecting the epidermis. That does not mean you have to give up luxuriously scented washes altogether. Brands such as Native, Method, and Hairitage curate body washes with clean ingredients at drugstore prices. Soap-suds should cleanse and perfume your skin, not inflame and damage it.

Aluminum used in deodorant is considered a carcinogen by scientists. Household brands like Secret and Dove have aluminum-free options, making this an easy and accessible switch. A completely natural line of deodorant by the company Salt & Stone has sold out online multiple types in their Santal & Vetiver scent. This specific fragrance duplicates Le Labo’s Santal 33, which has been at the peak of popularity for years.

Perfume is a unique component of someone’s demeanor that allows for their presence to linger, so a clean perfume is essential for yourself and others who will be inhaling your spray. Michelle Pfeiffer’s perfume line Henry Rose is the first to have 100% ingredient transparency. Underneath the “Our Story” tab on Pfeiffer’s website, she is quoted saying, “I gave [perfume] up altogether... but eventually, I missed it.” This longing inspired her to create her brand with safe formulations. A more affordable alternative is Good Chemistry, which is sold at Target.

Scientists have claimed that if you apply lip balm twice a day, in a year you will have consumed around 4 tubes of lip balm, making an organic lip balm important for your health. EOS has released three organic versions of their classic smooth sticks, or you can find a chemical-free lip balm at your local farmer’s market or health food store.

Everyday application of sunscreen is known to protect your skin from aging, sunspots, and skin cancer, but the chemical oxybenzone, which is found in most sunscreen, is extremely toxic. The only active ingredients that should be found in your sunscreen are mineral ingredients such as zinc oxide. Mineral sunscreens do tend to leave more of a white cast than others, but that is a small price to pay for the safety of your skin. Good Molecules’s Sheer Mineral Sunscreen is SPF 30 and does not contain any harmful chemicals.

These adjustments to your everyday product rotation are not inconvenient or outrageously priced, so give your skin and overall self a little extra love with these clean-formulated choices.
