Square Magazine Staff Picks: Signature Fragrances

Square Magazine Staff Picks: Signature Fragrances

By: Addie Flasck

Perfume is more than a fraction of our beauty regimens; it is a form of self expression. Signature scents define one’s presence and hint to our personalities without needing any further explanation. Sometimes we shop for them relentlessly before finding the right match for us. Other times, the scent finds us. No matter how you discover it, there is nothing quite as personal as a signature fragrance. From floral to sweet, this is what the Square staff smells like.

Glossier You

“It has hints of floral and wood but honestly I can’t even describe it perfectly because it’s so great. I wear it all the time because it makes me feel put together but also fun. It’s perfect for any occasion and I always reach for it whenever I’m leaving the house.” - Jasmine Gibbs, Creative Team

Lait De Coco by Le Monde Gourmand

“It smells like coconut, vanilla, and notes of bergamot. I love that it’s very creamy and oil based so it soaks into your skin and stays for a long time!”- Abby Fulmar, Editorial Team

Riddle Original Oil

“The scent is very clean, subtle, musk, amber, and natural. It is not too strong, but gives the perfect amount of scent for someone to notice. It reminds me of amber oil if you’ve ever used that. It also makes me imagine clean sheets hanging to dry outside, the smell of cleanliness, fresh air, and sunshine. When applied to the wrists, neck, and elbows, it uses your body as a natural diffuser, allowing for a subtle yet noticeable scent. My favorite of all time for everyday wear.” - Anne Mclain Herbert, Creative Team

Jo Malone Red Roses

“The perfect rose scent – I stole it from my mom because it smells so good. She always got so many compliments wearing it.” - Grace Barrett, Business Team

Jo Malone Orange Blossom

“It’s a light floral scent that I tried on a whim one day and ended up falling in love with it!” - Kate Kimberlin, Editorial Team

Bubble Bath by Maison Margiela

“The best way I can describe this scent is clean green soap. I love it because it is perfect for everyday, no matter the season or occasion.” - Olivia Blackwell, Digital Team

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre

“It was a gift from my mom a few Christmases ago and the scent always puts me in a good mood.” - Elena Ossoski, Co-Editor in Chief

Considering the endless options, finding a signature perfume can be a daunting task. In reality, choosing the right scent does not have to mean scouring the market for the “best” fragrance. In fact, oftentimes a signature scent can be found without having to look at all. There may be one already in your vanity that brings back memories, makes you reminisce, or reminds you of someone you love.

Other times, you may inadvertently develop a signature scent by consistently reaching for your favorite perfume because it makes you feel confident. No matter how you choose it, there is no denying that finding a scent to wear again and again is about more than just smelling good. It is about making a statement, evoking emotion, and deviating from the mundane, all with just one spritz.
