2 Trends to Look Out for in 2023

2 Trends to Look Out for in 2023

By: Emily Bone

Although the most impressive wardrobes contain a majority of classic, timeless items that will never go out of style, curating your closet without regard to the ephemeral trends that start anew each year can get you accused of playing it safe. The trend forecasts for 2023 are all over the board. Everything from utilitarian pockets to ballet-core grocery fits can be expected to be seen all over the place. Here are two trends that are most likely to be hitting your closet shortly.

1. Lime Green

“Valentino Pink” and cobalt blue surely had their moment this year, but it is time for lime green to shine. This gender-neutral color follows the same pattern of popularity for the dopamine-shocking neons that have gained popularity in the past few months. Officially given the name Lime Punch by Pantone, the color certainly made a statement at this year’s Copenhagen Fashion Week for the 2023 spring and summer seasons and made a favorable impression. Although lime green has been floating around in ready-to-wear runway shows since 2019, it should be fully expected to be in the limelight this year (pun intended).

2. Metallic Everything

The metallic trend has already come to fruition: the famous silver mirrored heels from Prada are crowd-pleasers. Saint Laurent even noticed and made their own version. Chanel has a perfectly shiny quilted bag that is ideal to pair these shoes with. This futuristic material being used in three major fashion houses with a tendency to play it safe seems to speak volumes about the assurance of the trend taking hold over mainstream design. Beauty influencers are already starting to hop on this trend, and metallic pants are starting to pop up more and more on Instagram feeds. This trend will more than likely expand, so expect to see colored metallics and even silver sequins coming back into everyday pieces here soon.
