On Monday, September 14, the 78th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were held. Following the awards show, Square Magazine reflected on five of the most intriguing looks of the night.
Florence Pugh
Pugh attended her first Emmy Awards show to promote Netflix’s highly anticipated limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “East of Eden.” She wore a sparkling pastel purple Vivienne Westwood gown. Paired with an alternative updo, Allure called this look the epitome of “2000s Prom,” writing that the “volume and texture feels like a prom-queen updo from a teen rom-com of the era.”
Zendaya
Zendaya stunned for the cameras in a custom-made tulle and crystal Prada gown, sporting a chic pixie cut after being nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Rue in “Euphoria.” The Hollywood Reporter claimed that her new look “evoked thoughts of an iconic look worn by Halle Berry,” which Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach confirmed as the inspiration via Instagram. After starring in two of the most successful films of the summer (Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Marvel’s newest installment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day), it is no surprise that the critically acclaimed actress impressed at the Emmys.
Ayo Edebiri
Nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sydney in “The Bear,” Edebiri wore a soft blue dress wrapped in striking orange bows. With dainty pearl jewelry by Mikimoto, Edebiri once again graced the Emmys with her presence as a successful young actress. This was Edebiri’s fifth Emmy nomination. Previously, she took home the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for “The Bear” in 2023.
Elle Fanning
Elle Fanning sported a gorgeous sage green Ralph Lauren dress at this year’s Emmy Awards. Paired with dangling earrings, Fanning showed up to the awards show with two nominations for her series “Margo’s Got Money Troubles” and was seen in pictures alongside her fellow executive producer and sister Dakota Fanning.
Selena Gomez
The singer, actress and Rare Beauty founder Selena Gomez dazzled those around her in a golden Louis Vuitton gown. BAZAAR described the piece as being made of “little metal pieces that were arranged in geometric patterns, accentuating her silhouette.” She attended in support of her comedy television show, “Only Murders in the Building,” which received a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.
