The Summer of Celebrity Weddings

The Summer of Celebrity Weddings

By: Tyler Leik

There has been no shortage of celebrity weddings this summer, from Taylor Hill, to Joey King, and, of course, Sofia Richie. Across each of these weddings, there have been shared trends of midday ceremonies, extravagant florals, and the classic bridal style.

In the world of celebrity weddings, few have captured the public’s attention quite like Sofia Richie Grainge’s French fairytale has. Grainge spared no effort or expense when it came to creating a wedding that will go down as wedding of the year.

Outside of her breathtaking venue with a backdrop of the Amalfi Coast, the event dazzled guests with a live performance from Stephen Sanchez as Grainge took her 12-minute stroll down the aisle. A trio of custom Channel dresses graced her wedding weekend, with pieces of her and her husband hidden in the details.

Since her big day, many have followed suit – celebrities and typical brides alike. Be it through booking a venue on the Amalfi Coast, taking inspiration from her custom wedding wardrobe, or floral arrangements worthy of awe, elements of Grainge’s day have also found their way into weddings across the globe.

Just last month, Bridget Bahl, Creative Director of The Bar, took on New York for her extravagant wedding. She shut down an entire block in SoHo for her Dior-sponsored rehearsal dinner. Bahl wore Oscar de la Renta for both her ceremony and reception, though she took it upon herself to individually design a dress for each of her seven bridesmaids.

The ceremony itself felt larger than life, with a plethora of floral arrangements making the rooftop feel like something out of a fairytale. The seating cap of her rooftop venue was 120 people, making this elaborate affair feel much more intimate than Grainge’s ceremony.

What many may deem the “Naomi Biden effect” laid the foundation for this year’s wedding trends. Though Sofia Richie Grainge and Bridget Bahl take the title of having two of the best weddings in 2023, other celebrity weddings should not go unnoticed. The extravagant weddings of other celebrities dazzled the public with exclusive features from Vogue for readers to draw inspiration from.

In June, Taylor Hill married her long-time partner Daniel Fryer against a backdrop of the Colorado Rockies with a western flare. The supermodel wore a custom Etro gown for the occasion.

Joey King turned heads with her Great Gatsby inspired wedding. Each of King’s looks were Oscar de la Renta, and nothing short of a work of art.

While this summer seemed to be the summer of celebrity weddings, wedding season often feels to be never-ending. With winter weddings right around the corner, new trends lay in wait, hoping to live up to the standards set this summer.
