In the first episode of Louis Vuitton’s new podcast, Louis Vuitton [EXTENDED], host Loïc Prigent, a French fashion insider, is joined by Pharrell Williams and his uncle Bishop Ezekiel Williams to discuss his journey to becoming Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director. Explore Louis Vuitton’s many universes as this podcast will tell the untold stories of visionary personalities and expand the creative possibilities of music and fashion.

Pharrell Williams has broken boundaries through his award-winning music career and is now channeling his energy into new mediums as Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Creative Director. His first collection, “LVERS”, debuted during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris this past June.

“I was blessed to walk into a position where the one prerequisite for me is that it would be respected that I was a student stepping into this position,” said Williams as he described all the different people that make up the Louis Vuitton Men’s department.

Williams said he wanted to express his gratitude for getting the opportunity to showcase his creativity when describing his reasoning behind naming the collection “LVERS”.  “It’s also derivative of the slogan Virginia is for Lovers,” said Williams. Pharrell grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia where his music festival Something in the Water is now held annually, headlining artists like A$AP Rocky and Busta Rhymes.

“VA to Paris, Paris to VA. You’ll see a lot of that going forward,” said Williams as some varsity jackets in the collection had a “LVERS” emblem.

Williams brought his innovative ideas, like Voices of Fire singing their song “Joy” produced by Williams, during the show to Paris. “That song is a hallmark card for encouragement,” said Williams. Voices of Fire is a gospel choir based out of Norfolk, Virginia, and is led by Pharrell’s uncle, Bishop Ezekiel Williams.

Bishop Williams says experiencing the show was life-changing. “Everybody was overjoyed to be a part of what was taking place. Something that they had never dreamt of coming into fruition,” said Bishop Williams when he described how the choir felt being a part of the iconic moment in Paris.

Pharrell’s ideas and plans for the future are going to be even bigger than the outcome of his first show. He said, “If this time what we just did is big, I don’t know what this next thing is, I can’t even put it into words.”
