Gigi Hadid Takes Up Residency in the Cashmere Industry
Gigi Hadid Takes Up Residency in the Cashmere Industry
By: Briley Rakow
Gigi Hadid is an internationally recognizable supermodel and fashion icon with years of experience in both runway and print. As of yesterday, she has entered a new domain as founder and creative director of Guest in Residence, her cashmere and knitwear company. While it is not uncommon for celebrities to start their own brands, Hadid has waited for the right opportunity to create something worthwhile and meaningful within the fashion space.
Guest in Residence focuses on providing quality, 100% cashmere clothing items at a reasonable price. The pieces are meant to be long-lasting parts of your wardrobe, with biodegradable, long-fiber cashmere that is said to avoid pilling. The material has long been considered a luxury item, but Hadid hopes to change that with her line of warm-toned, unique silhouettes.
The launch campaign is titled “Yearbook” and includes portraits of people of all ages. The theme of the campaign is meant to demonstrate the lifespan of cashmere when taken care of properly and promote investing in long-lasting pieces.
While not specifically promoting sustainability, the brand encourages minimal turnover in a wardrobe, which is the antithesis of fast fashion which currently dominates the current industry. The website includes detailed instructions on how to care properly for your cashmere, so keeping Guest in Residence products looking brand new is easy to achieve.
Gigi Hadid’s style has been admired by the masses for years, so it only makes sense that her own designs are taking center stage. Cashmere is luxurious, but Guest in Residence products might have reinvented it as an accessible opulence.
