Hulu’s new limited series “Love Story,” starring Paul Anthony Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. and Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette, has taken over the internet, and the show’s minimalistic ‘90s style has provided stunning on-screen fashion moments.

In the first few episodes, we see Bessette in sophisticated, minimalistic corporate attire as she works at Calvin Klein. Neutrals and form-fitting outfits provide sleek and put-together looks. She is seen wearing little to no accessories at this time. Her style and fashion choices are subtle, and that shows in the initial scenes. Pidgeon mentioned in a recent interview that she had the honor of wearing some of the exact pieces Bessette wore in the ‘90s.

JFK Jr. wears well-tailored suits, as the early episodes tell the story of his law journey. Though he is seen as sophisticated in this attire, he accessorizes with backwards caps to give a more customized and casual look. However, JFK Jr. embraces funky streetwear when walking his dog Friday and playing football with his friends in Central Park. The audience sees him express different sides of himself through his clothing and accessories.

Later in the series, we begin to see them together as a couple. They almost start to dress to complement each other, from streetwear to galas. Originally designed by Narciso Rodriguez, Pidgeon stuns in a recreation of Bessette’s iconic silk wedding dress with white mesh gloves for the couple’s 1996 wedding in Cumberland Island, Georgia. The couple’s aesthetic was very unique to them, and by this time, they had adopted a style of their own.

Throughout the series, viewers really get to see the details of the couple’s clothing and accessories. Looks from “Love Story,” as well as the couple’s real-life outfits, have led to a massive spike in minimalistic styling and neutral colors. Even subtle beauty trends are beginning to follow suit, bringing back Bessette’s natural makeup looks.
