Kim Kardashian and her viral brand Skims have been making big waves in the shapewear industry recently. From collaborating with Fendi to officially becoming the underwear partner for USA Basketball, the NBA, and the WNBA, Skims is constantly taking the spotlight. The brand’s most recent feat is launching a collection with crystal company Swarovski, different from any collection Skims has done before.
Officially launching in early November, the collection combines sportiness and elegance, featuring contouring body jewelry and crystal-embellished dresses, bodysuits, and intimates. “Skims provides the base layers for all the [wardrobe] essentials in a sporty way, and collaborations allow me to explore different sides of my personality,” said Kim about the collaboration. Skims is famed for its flattering pieces that feel like your own skin, and this partnership with Swarovski is helping the brand break into sectors other than intimates and loungewear. The collection was inspired by several fashion moments, including old Hollywood glamor, Britney Spears’ “Toxic” music video, and the Marilyn Monroe dress worn by Kardashian to the 2022 Met Gala.
Swarovski Creative Director Giovanna Engelbert has been putting a modern twist on the brand since she joined in 2016 through collaborations with Nike, Adidas, and Aquazzura. Through these efforts, she has transformed Swarovski from a traditional jewelry company into a big competitor in the modern luxury market. Skims x Swarovski is no exception, adding a playful touch to the overall brand. Engelbert said, “I’ve loved the Skims aesthetic since they launched, and I’ve always wanted to explore body jewelry, so they were the perfect brand to work with for this.”
Skims x Swarovski fuses the visions of two iconic brands in a way that celebrates confidence and empowerment. You can shop the collection on Skims.com, Selfridges.com, and select luxury stores.
