Rethinking the All-White Summer Uniform

Rethinking the All-White Summer Uniform

By: Elena Ossoski

The all-white outfit has been a summer go-to for what feels like ages. When you remove the negative possibility of ruining an outfit with stains, this classic ensemble is the no-brainer answer to the ever-posed question: “what should I wear today?” Wearing one shade from head to toe is always an easy way to look put together when you have limited time on your hands, but the all-white outfit is a tried and true summer uniform that has always come across as effortlessly chic.

Even though the white-on-white outfit formula is a quick fix for creating a polished look, it presents endless opportunities for interpretation. When you are dressing for yourself and prioritizing your personal style over sticking to the tennis court rule of “summer whites,” an all-white look can never be boring.

Style stars like Camille Charrière and Bella Hadid show off their take on this quintessential summer look by pairing athletic pieces with disruptively cool accessories.

By playing with neighboring shades and small hints of color in a racing moto, Jacob Elordi delivered the ideal summer look while maintaining an ease that comes from wearing something that you’re comfortable in.

A sundress or a white blazer are staple pieces, but an individual’s point of view when it comes to getting dressed is what elevates these otherwise simple garments.

Square team member Cameron Cooley shares her personal style by breaking up her outfits with subtle pops of opposing hues. This is the perfect reminder that there’s no need to take anything literally. Just have fun with it.

A surprising shoe choice never fails to shake up an outfit for the better. Virgil Alboh made waves with this epic look when he hit the Met Gala red carpet in 2018.

Summer is all about freedom and is arguably the best time to rethink this traditional way of dressing. An all-white outfit will never go out style, but as long as there are style enthusiasts constantly pushing the envelope, it will never fall victim to being mislabeled as an archaic way of getting dressed.
