‘Transformative Teal’ Is the Color of 2026

Color shapes the way we feel, think, and act more often than we think, as proven in a study by Very Well Mind’s Kendra Cherry. That’s why when a color dominates the runway, we must pay attention to what it’s reflecting. Each year, one of the world’s top trend forecasters, WGSN, and Coloro, a color system, combine forces to predict the colors that will influence designers and consumers in the coming year. Through this forecast system, the data for 2026 is in: Transformative Teal is the color of 2026.

“A fluid fusion between dependable dark blue and aquatic green, this is the colour for a period of change and redirection,” said WGSN Insider.

Consumer trends have shown that sustainability efforts are on the rise, and the effects are making their way up to producers, leading them to prioritize their ecological responsibilities in 2026. The well-known color of sustainability is green. Mix that with blue to add some freshness to the new year, and we get a transformative shade of teal. After this color became prominent throughout Fashion Months in 2025, its popularity began to spread. According to WGSN, there was a 9% increase in Google searches for teal.

Why “transformative?” This color suggests newness and represents the earth. When compared to last year’s color, “Future Dusk,” which is a dark violet, it appears that people have a lighter outlook for 2026. This alludes to increased sustainability efforts that will result in the restoration of past designs with a regenerative intention in mind.

If research proves true, this shade will likely transition from the runway to your home. ELLE Decor, a prominent interior design magazine, is betting on teal bookcases, kitchen islands, and backsplashes, refreshing the spaces it will fill.

Both fashion and interior design industries can look forward to seeing old looks reimagined in a fresh way, and transformative teal will mark the era. As spring comes, keep your eyes peeled for flashes of this gorgeous hue and get excited—it will go great with a tan.
