Vivienne Westwood’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection titled “Body and Soul” debuted on the Paris Fashion Week runway on October 3, 2026. The collection focused on style and comfort during summer heat waves.
Creative director Andreas Kronthaler said to Newsroom with AFP that fashion is in a “precarious moment.” Westwood’s husband until her death, Kronthaler took over as the label’s creative director in her later years.
Kronthaler was inspired by African fabrics he purchased at markets and by the nightgowns he often wears out of the house. He told interviewers that he “just lived [his] life in it, and [he] went on [his] bicycle and shopping and whatnot. And people really liked it.” He later called the nightgown his “life shirt.”
The looks in the collection were whimsical and comfortable for day-to-day wear. One model wore a giant leaf headpiece, while others appeared in various animal prints and loose, vibrantly colored fabrics. The outfits were well-suited to a heatwave, and offered breathability for the models.
Kronthaler said, “things are not so secure in fashion,” adding that being an independent company had its draws and drawbacks.
Several celebrities walked the runway in the collection, including Natasha Lyonne. Lyonne walked wearing a multicolored, sequin animal print top and miniskirt with gladiator heels — she stunned audiences on the runway.
