1. The homey feel

Inspired by Nancy Meyers’s film “The Holiday,” this decor style has been quite popular lately.  A fraser fir Christmas tree is a staple for creating a homey feel and brings the delicious, natural scent of evergreen to your home. Drape dark green, fraser fir garland around your mantle, arch entryways, and stair rails for a warm and natural look.

Seasonal candles placed on tables and countertops incorporate the feeling of togetherness and are a must. Candlesticks and tall candle holders on your dinner table also adds to the look. This shooting-star tree topper from Anthropologie makes an excellent homey touch.

2. Winter wonderland

Those with children or who love a love for the wintry season may opt to create a miniature winter wonderland with fake snow, fairy lights, and small gingerbread houses on the mantle or tabletop. These adorable Antropologie Christmas houses will make your home feel like the North Pole. Bright colors like pink and turquoise can bring this magical look to life alongside miniature Christmas trees.

3. Do-it-yourself

Homemade decorations can be a simple and fun activity for the winter months. Stringing dehydrated orange slices on a garland over the mantle is a craft that dates back centuries. The simple decoration offers a fresh, winter look, and dried oranges are incredibly simple to make. Paper snowflakes offer another simple and cheerful addition to a space and never fail to entertain a holiday crowd of any age.

4. Modern minimalism

There’s nothing wrong with going the simple route. Mary Ralph Lawson decorates her home with a “Charlie Brown” Christmas tree and a “Merry Christmas” banner strung on her mantle. Stick to a neutral color scheme, simple string lights and stockings pinned upon the mantle for a holiday look that is easy and never overbearing. If you are celebrating Hanukkah, this dainty, yet beautiful Menorah from Anthropologie is perfect for your home.

5. Luxe & lavish

Silver and gold are key to a lavishly decorated home. Stick to gold embellished stockings like these from Tuckernuck and rich evergreen velvet ribbon from Ballard Designs. Christopher Radko’s intricately handcrafted ornaments will add a regal appearance to any tree. Clay cherubim, featured in Mississippi Magazine, can be hung from the light fixture above your dining room table for a lavish and old-money look. To set the table, these detailed evergreen LSA wine glasses add a touch of elegance with golden candlesticks scattered along the settings.
