Square Spotlight: Millie Conn
Square Spotlight: Millie Conn

Lover of every color known to man, Millie Conn has taken the jump into the world of lifestyle blogging after sporadically dabbling in her fashion-oriented hobby since her junior year of high school. Richmond, Virginia native, Millie Conn is a bubbly Phi Mu currently studying Integrated Marketing Communications with a Fashion Promotion specialization who has begun her journey as a fashion and lifestyle blogger within the last few weeks. Originally “Ciao Daisy Gal”, The Amazon Shopaholic has become a place for Conn to share her online shopping finds after caving into her love for the fashion world, which her family sparked, but only continued to blossom as she met new people and dived into countless creative projects over the years.
“I fell in love with fashion at a very young age,” said Conn. “There are photos of me trying on heels at age five while on one of our family visits to our hometown’s Nordstrom.”
After growing up taking art lessons for over a decade, Conn’s eye for color is unparalleled. Color blocking quickly became one of her favorite things to do when it comes to dressing as well as creating artwork. While her love for color has always been strong, Conn tells me that she tended to gravitate towards neutrals and basic black and white outfits while in high school. Once she came to Ole Miss, Conn met Bailey Fry, who quickly became one of her best friends as well as “the girl that brought out the color in me!”
Conn’s love for fashion runs deep and she’s only started her adventure into the blogosphere, nurturing her audience interaction with her second Instagram page, @theamazonshopaholic. While her account is a free space, The Amazon Shopaholic has become a place where she can share the pieces that she loves to love from Amazon and more.
“I’m not kidding when I tell you that I have at least four hundred items in my Amazon cart at all times.”
The bohemian western-style always catches her eye around this time of year as the temperatures drop and the number of layers rapidly increases. In perfect harmony with her current style go-to, Conn reveals that her favorite piece of all-time is a camel-colored, wide brim fedora that she found on Amazon last fall. Conn is a true girl’s girl, and her style reflects it: she never shies away over-the-top accessories and striking pops of color.
Inspired by Mary Ralph Lawson, Hunter Premo, and Nina Sandbech, Conn’s style changes from day to day to fit with her mood. Throughout the struggle that was and still is this everlasting isolation period, Conn adopted a new hobby of painting her nails insanely bright colors. Different hues of pastel and neon were the cure to a dark day. Conn believes that the constant reminder that there is still some color and life in this world is what keeps her positive through these dark times.
Conn and I talked a lot about the effects that fashion can have on your overall mood and self-worth perception. Since her emotions consistently influence her style, Conn wholeheartedly believes that an outfit can make or break your mood for the day.
“I think that’s a lot of what fashion is. We talked about how it expresses how we feel, and encouraged ourselves to be confident, happy, and feel playful and energetic just as most people do when they see fun colors,” Conn said.
