Getting the Most Out of Drugstore Mascara

Getting the Most Out of Drugstore Mascara

By: Katie Kerrigan

Everyone looks for something different in a mascara – some look for volume, some look for length, while others may prefer a more natural look. Whatever your preference, mascara is an easy way to elevate your look on days when a full face of makeup is out of the question. Mascara does not need to break the bank, either. Most drugstore beauty brands have their own lines of affordable mascaras that substitute easily for the luxury titles.

Maybelline New York Total Temptation Mascara

Maybelline’s Total Temptation mascara has a fluffy but lengthening formula. The large brush is great for coating every lash while still being precise.

Maybelline New York’s Great Lash Mascara

This mascara has been around for years and is great for every-day wear. It comes in a range of colors including a clear shade for the perfect no-makeup look. At just under nine dollars, this mascara is the perfect travel-friendly buy.

L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

L’Oréal’s Lash Paradise Mascara gives luxurious results without the expensive price tag. The formula is very pigmented and adds instant length and volume. This mascara is great for those looking to elevate their look without the hassle of false lashes.

L’Oréal Paris Bambi Eye Mascara

The Bambi Eye mascara is perfect for day and nighttime wear. The smaller brush allows for more precise application that can add a slight touch of volume or layer

multiple coats for a stronger look. This mascara is also great for adding length and volume without weighing lashes down.

Covergirl Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara

Covergirl’s Lash Blast Clean Volume Mascara is both vegan-friendly and cruelty-free. The brush is also loaded with precise bristles to coat every lash.

Even with luxury mascaras, the key is in the application. To make eyes look wider, focus on lengthening the lashes right above and below the pupil. Emphasizing the lashes on the outer corners of the eyes lengthens them and compliments winged liner.

For a more wide-awake look, choosing mascaras with brown tones instead of black can draw less attention to dark circles or dullness in the skin. Curling the lashes before applying mascara can also make eyes appear more open.

Drugstore beauty is easy, quick, and accessible. Whether it is mascara, concealer, or blush, many drugstore brands offer quality products for a fraction of the price of prestige labels.
