5 Versatile Makeup Looks for Thanksgiving

5 Versatile Makeup Looks for Thanksgiving

By: Kate Kimberlin

Thanksgiving, a holiday synonymous with the changing of seasons, is one that looks different for everyone. There is no time like the holidays to change up your routine and try out new trends, and there is no shortage of different ways to experiment this Thanksgiving.

 Bold All Around

For those who treat every day like a high fashion event, Thanksgiving is a perfect time to experiment with new techniques and a fresh color palette. Goth eyes and dark lips have become extremely popular within the past couple of months, but a classic smokey eye is another timeless option to try. Switch a light blush out for a cranberry one, and a light gloss for a bold red.

Graphic Liner

This is a trend that has seen an uptake in popularity within the past few years, and it is an extremely versatile one. Ranging from sharp neon blue angles to subtle wings with a shimmery gold liner, this is a great way to elevate a look or just experiment with something new.

Subtle Fall Tones

While fall is typically synonymous with darker and bolder looks, many celebrities and makeup artists have toned down the use of fall colors, either buffing out the cranberry shadows or adding a simple pop of orange on the inner corner. Either way, this is a great route for getting in the holiday spirit without being too formal.

The Viral “I’m Cold” Look

A recent look that has skyrocketed in popularity, the “I’m Cold” style focuses on emulating looking cold, as the title suggests. This can be accomplished by going lighter on foundation and eye makeup, but heavier on blush over the cheeks and nose. This is a fun way to channel the cold that comes with the holidays, without necessarily having the weather.

Foiled/Metallic Lid

Another fun option for the more formal events and those ready to embrace the glitter of the holidays, a foiled eye adds a bit of glam to your makeup look. Whether going for glitter all over the lid or just in the corner, be sure to make it the star of the show, with a more natural look on the rest of the face.

No matter what Thanksgiving looks like, it is a great time to transition to new or different makeup looks. The seasonally appropriate cranberry blushes and orange eyeshadows can finally make an appearance, and Thanksgiving is a great place to start.
