13 Subtly Festive Sweaters

13 Subtly Festive Sweaters

By: Hailey Layne

Finding a holiday sweater that can be worn for more than two days out of the year can sometimes be difficult. Going beyond the occasional office Christmas party, having clothing pieces that are tasteful in multiple settings can be more sustainable and wallet-friendly. If you find yourself wanting to celebrate the season without the traditional red and green palette or a reindeer, here are some of our favorite sweaters that are ideal for the entire holiday season.

1. (Seven) Swans (A Swimming) Sweater Vest

Although this sweater vest features more than seven swans, it includes a ruffle trim and serves as a conversation starter. For lovers of a good lyrical wordplay, this is a stylish addition to your next holiday party.

2. Bow Embellished Sweater

This shorter-sleeve option is perfect for layering under a coat. The classic black and white color scheme allows for wear throughout the entire year. To elevate the look, pair it with a silk midi skirt and gold bow earrings.

3. Cream V-Neck Crystal Embellished Sweater

A hint of sparkle complements the simplicity of this wool-blend sweater. Pairing the sweater with straight-leg jeans and bejeweled shoes allows for a dressed-down look that still allows the wearer to shine.

4. Nordic Star Motif Sweater

This chunky knit sweater showcases a neutral-colored star pattern. It is hand embroidered with rib knit cuffed sleeves.

5. Christmas Doily Sweater

Doilies are ornamental cotton thread decorations that grace dinner tables, Christmas trees, and clothing. This cream sweater’s detailing is reminiscent of the openwork style used in the Victorian era.

6. Après Ski Sweater

With a high neck and trailing buttons, this sweater has a sporty feel to it. Whether  relaxing after a day on the slopes or enjoying a fireside catch-up, this sweater easily transitions from day to night.

7. Heart Cut-out Sweater

This sweater is for the statement maker. Featuring a pastel heart cut-out, this will not protect you from the cold. Although nontraditional, it evokes the memory of when the Grinch’s heart grew two sizes larger.

8. Metallic Foil Sweater

Why only decorate with tinsel? For those who are looking for more than a subtle shimmer, this entire cable knit is foil-printed with a silver hue.

9. Skier Embroidered Sweater

As a disclaimer, this sweater is an evergreen shade. Skiers are positioned to appear like they are sliding down the cable knit stripes.

10. Pearl Cardigan

This cardigan is perfect for the workplace as well as a night out. With pearl buttons, the wool blend is a quintessential layering piece. Paired with leather pants, the femininity of the sweater can be balanced with the heavier material.

11. Reformed Red Cardigan

A classic red cardigan is updated by Sleeper with the addition of feathery red cuffs and pearl buttons. It has a cropped length which goes well with a high-waisted pant or maxi skirt.

12. Flower Sweater

This sweater takes florals away from being a spring-only element with the hand-embroidered 3D flowers. It has balloon sleeves with an oversized fit.

13. Rhinestone-Sleeved Sweater

The rhinestone embellishments on this cable knit sweater provide just the right amount of sparkle for any holiday season. With a more structured fit, the designs do not slump into the bulk of the knit.

Regardless of what you are wearing this holiday season, the focus on something outside of ourselves is what makes the holiday season so special. The cozy feeling of a sweater can only be rivaled by the family, friends, and food that is synonymous with this time of year.
