The U.S. premiere of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was July 10th in Los Angeles, California. Despite the fact that the film’s theatrical release is not for nearly another two weeks, the principle cast of the film have been sparking internet buzz for their high caliber ensembles at premieres around the globe. This naturally set the bar for many celebrities once the premiere came to the States. Here are some standout looks from the premiere.
Ryan Gosling
The inventor of the term “Kennergy” should not be counted out in terms of this press tour. While not going as camp as his costar, Gosling still embraced pink hues for many of his press appearances, and this premiere was no exception. He donned an all pink Gucci suit, and accessorized with a pink “E” necklace in the Barbie font for his wife, Eva Mendes.
Greta Gerwig
Greta Gerwig, Barbie’s multi-hyphenate director made her first appearance in all pink at the premiere. Her entire hot pink ensemble is Valentino, including the purse and shoes. She also accessorized with Cartier jewelry.
Simu Liu
Ensemble cast member Simu Liu has consistently made best dressed lists over the past couple of years, but the star has shone even brighter this past month. Opting for a powder blue suit instead of pink like many other male stars, Liu’s Versace suit is perfectly tailored and shows off the buckle detailing and his David Yurman jewelry.
Trixie Mattel
Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race rejoiced to see alumna Trixie Mattel grace the pink carpet. As a notorious fan of all things Barbie, down to her drag surname, it was only fitting for her to attend the premiere. While the designer of the dress is unknown, Mattel still fit right in complete with a huge blonde wig and signature makeup.
Jeremy Scott
Former Moschino Director Jeremy Scott attended the premiere with Margot Robbie, according to his social media. While he joined the club of men that showed up in similar shades of light pink, Scott had his own take complete with a three piece suit, bow tie, and combat boots all in the same shade.
The U.S. premiere of Barbie has been the cherry on top for an excellent show of celebrity high fashion. With Robbie setting a high bar for the premiere, stars certainly delivered in a big way. Critics and fans alike hope that premieres can continue to be this fun and fashion-forward.
