Chanel Haute Couture Fall-Winter 2021/22

A-line skirts and practical silhouettes are the essential classic styles that have made their home at the heart of this collection. The latest Chanel Haute Couture collection is here, paying homage to the popular fits and styles of the 1930s, 60s, and 80s.
The floral trends we’ve been seeing over last year due to the overwhelming obsession with the playful color and pattern trends of the 1960s and early 2000s are not going away as the temperatures drop towards the end of the year.
Most fashion buffs know that the historical Chanel roots oppose the current trends, (especially due to its simplistically chic trademark colors of black and white).
Chanel’s Creative Director, Virginie Viard, took the neutral house into a world of vibrancy this season. The past few collections presented by Viard have given us a way to see Chanel in what feels like a brand-new spectrum of colors. My personal favorites are the looks that feature hidden floral accents under the brim of hats that lead me to picture Audrey Hepburn’s infamous costume in My Fair Lady.
Inspired by the great works of the Impressionists, Virginie Viard utilized feathers from the frequent House of Chanel collaborator, Maison Lemarié, to create fluffy, brush-like floral patterns on some of the collection’s best looks.
An unfamiliar guest on the Chanel runway was a pair of Harem-style pants that provoke speculations that Viard took some inspiration from the signature look sported by M.C. Hammer in the 1980s.
The crown jewel of any haute couture show hosted by Chanel is always the bride! This year’s Chanel Bride was notably simplistic with 80s puff sleeves, a wide A-line skirt, and an accessory that took us back in time to the golden age of the Kennedy family: a pillbox fit for Jackie O. Kennedy herself.
The show was clearly another success for Viard to tuck under her belt as she continues her career at the helm of Chanel.
