Cherry Red Is The Color Of The Season
Cherry Red Is The Color Of The Season
By: Claire Watkiss
Cherry red has been all the rage this year; from nail polish to ballet flats to leather jackets, this color seems to be every “it-girl’s” choice for the season.
The Fall/Winter 2023 runway saw its fair share of this hue, with brands like Tory Burch and Ferragamo featuring the shade in their shows. The color was included in both monochromatic looks and pops of color in more neutral outfits. In September’s Spring/Summer 2024 shows, red continued to shine on the runway and in street style looks.
Red has forever been a powerful color, but has typically been seen in brighter forms. Perhaps this muted shade is just what our closets need this season to change up the look. While browns and blacks have long been our go-to shades for fall and winter, this season you may want to try something new with your neutrals.
Red Leather Jacket
If you head to your favorite thrift store and do some digging, you may get lucky and find the perfect leather jacket for the season. Instead of opting for your normal black coat, this red will be just the pop your outfit needs.
Red Ballet Flats
Ballet flats have shown they are here to stay for the fall and winter seasons. If you are looking to add a pair to your wardrobe, branch out and find the perfect red pair. Ballet flats pair well with everything from jeans to mini skirts and dresses. To keep even warmer for the winter, pair your flats with socks or leg warmers.
Red Scarf
As the weather gets colder, a scarf is never a bad accessory to have on hand. A scarf in this color will give your outfit a head-turning detail.
Red Nail Polish
If you are not ready to fully commit to this trend yet, try out a simple red nail polish. While there is a variety of shades to choose from, OPI makes a color called “Magala Wine” that will be sure to give your outfits the perfect fall accent.
No matter how you decide to take on this trend, keep in mind that it mixes perfectly with any neutral or denim-based outfit. Play around with the shade and see what other ways you can wear it this season. After all, this may be just the upgrade that the color red needed to stay relevant in our closets in the coming years.
