Complete Your Look with Eye Candy

Complete Your Look with Eye Candy

By: Sophie Smith

An accessorizing rule-of-thumb popularized by Coco Chanel is to take one thing off before heading out the door. Everyone has their own take on minimalism versus maximalism, but one thing is for sure: your glasses should never be at risk of last-minute removal. If you have grown bored of traditional glasses, play around with colors and shapes to find the perfect frames to complement your facial features.

The most common colors for glasses include black, brown, and tortoise shell. It seems logical to select a neutral color for your everyday glasses to guarantee versatility with any color palette you choose to wear, but instead of letting the frames mesh and blend, a nice pop of color that compliments your eyes can be a flattering and fun addition. An easy way to find out what color will intensify your eyes is to use color theory or consult an eyewear website like Quay Australia.

Bella Hadid is an influential example of someone who consistently dons colored frames. Hadid’s notable personal style is never amiss and one of our favorite eyewear looks from her repertoire is this small, dual-colored set of frames by FUBU in the hues of mustard yellow and steel blue that accentuate her blue-green eyes.

Playing around with the shape and thickness of frames can create juxtaposition to the overall essence of your choice of dress. A basic tee and jeans combo can be elevated with the contrast of a dramatic rim.  If a neutral shade is more your style, sport round, cat-eye, square, or oversized frames to captivate and draw attention.

Life is too short to wear predictable glasses, so express yourself with your eye candy.
