Diesel released their fall/winter 2024 collection during Milan Fashion Week as 1,000 virtual attendees watched on the walls of the runway. The latest collection alters the brand signatures and takes a mature form. Known for his unique designs and textures, Creative Director Glenn Martens put a spin on the beloved classics through dramatic structures and distressed finishes.
The show’s first looks included different workwear-inspired dresses, deconstructed blazers, and slacks with leather, ribbed, denim, and mesh materials. The show transformed into a culmination of floral and cheetah print reconstructed skirts and fur coats.
When you think of Diesel, you think of gritty streetwear that you can wear from day to night. This collection did not steer away from Diesel’s roots, incorporating a reconstructed denim patchwork hat in look 21.
Knit-wrapped dresses and beautiful silhouettes of mesh, floral, and cheetah print textures graced the catwalk as the show then transitioned to layers of heavy fur and wool materials that captured audience attention. Double-breasted coats, dresses, and faux fur skirts were uniquely designed as they almost consumed the models’ silhouettes while still being flattering.
Classic acid-washed sweat suits with hoodies and tucked necklines in black and blue were presented with the Diesel logo across the chest and hips.
The finale included new-age looks with vivid graphic designs and almost every colorway you could think of. An oversized multi-denim pantsuit with padded shoulders and a yellow fur jacket paired with reflective denim and cheetah boots came down the catwalk. Graphic, cropped long-sleeves and mini skirts paired with the classic Diesel handbag took a new form through unique textures and new colorways. Oversized fur coats of differing lengths were paired with matching handbags and shoes.
Martens continues to reimagine classic essentials and challenge our perceptions during fashion week. Through each collection, Martens innovates timeless pieces through meticulous details and new perspectives for modern trends.
