Gucci Unveils Their Harry Styles Collaboration Collection
Gucci Unveils Their Harry Styles Collaboration Collection
By: Addie Flasck
The wait is over. Harry Styles has officially released his long-awaited line of menswear with the help of Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele. The artists combined each of their initials to create Gucci HA HA HA, a collection that is every bit as eclectic and playful as you would expect from a pop artist with a known penchant for pushing the meaning of masculinity.
The now-shoppable line includes a reimagined Jackie 1961 bag and prints that range all the way from gingham and leopard print to cherries and teddy bears. Many of the pieces reflect not only Styles’ widely recognized personal style, but the different elements of his songwriting as well. Just as with his music, this collection allows punk and prep to live in perfect harmony. Graphic tees and bomber jackets meet neon green vests to embody every bit of freedom and color that Styles has grounded his aesthetic in for years.
HA HA HA Gucci is a pleasant relief from the logomania route taken by many usual collections. While there are still hints of Gucci’s beloved motifs throughout the pieces, such as the occasional “G” pattern on a vest or a trademark Gucci item revisioned, the majority of pieces use Gucci’s overall air as a way of defining the items as luxury. Similarly, very few pieces feature direct references to Styles’ music. The line feels like stepping into his wardrobe rather than tour merch.
Admiring the collection is easy, but a wardrobe curated by one of the world’s biggest icons certainly calls for a Gucci price tag. On the low end, a pair of striped cotton socks comes in at $235, meanwhile, the coveted Jackie bag totals up to just under $7000. For those who can afford to, sharing a closet with Harry Styles might be a good way to drop a few grand. As for the rest of us, wake us up when he releases a line of nail polishes.
