How to Achieve the Scandi-Girl Look for Fall

By: Elyse Littleton

Scandi-girl style has been taking over social media recently, with influencers like Matilda Djerf setting constant nordic-chic trends. This aesthetic is all about layering clothing in an articulate manner and incorporating colorful statement pieces among an otherwise simplistic set of clothing.

Achieving the classic Scandinavian look is dependent on dark hues and relaxed fits. Chunky sneakers and flats are essential in a Scandi-girl’s wardrobe both being realistic and comfortable shoe options that can have just as much style as flirty heels if worn correctly.

Sleek, straight-legged pants are clean and relaxed, fitting with the timeless theme of Scandinavian clothing. Being a year-long favorite, straight-legged trousers and jeans are an investment piece that can last through all seasons of life.

Maxi dresses are another functional way to incorporate this style. Elevate a simple dress with colorful accessories to maintain elegance while still expressing creativity.

Layering can be mastered by incorporating knits and coats, signatures of Scandinavian style. Layers of neutral paired with straight pants look sophisticated and well composed. Throw on a simple blazer to add dimension and polish to any everyday outfit.

Collared shirts, also typically thought of as business casual, can be the uniform for brunch or a day running errands. Matilda Djerf shows the versatility of a white button down, taking it from a casual daytime look to wearing it over an evening dress for a dinner out.

Scandinavian style is meant to be casual and functional, while still maintaining a sleek elegance. No matter your lifestyle, building a wardrobe by following a Scandinavian pattern will provide many staples, and will never be out of fashion.
