Jacquemus “La Casa”

Jacquemus “La Casa”

Simon Porte Jacquemus announced that he would display his newest fall ready-to-wear collection, “La Casa,” for the brand’s 15th anniversary by sharing an image of Bella Hadid at last month’s Cannes Film Festival. The model wore one of the newest pieces from the collection, donning a flowing white dress with a one-sided circular cutout on the back, hinting at what is to come for Jacquemus’ latest work.

On the day of the show, with 40 guests in attendance, the collection was displayed on the island of Capri, Italy, at the Casa Malaparte — a gorgeous red-brick house with a tall staircase and a large, flat roof. From the roof, guests could see the breathtaking view of the clear summer blue sky and the Gulf of Naples’ ocean water surrounding the house.

The first notable feature of this collection is the use of color, particularly diverting what is commonly seen for fall or winter apparel. Instead of integrating darker, cooler tones, this collection utilized bold, lighter colors and patterns with the traditional fall-wear pieces. Throughout the show, an array of bright reds, turquoise and blues, pastel yellows, and even the incorporation of zebra prints are used in various pieces, showing that bright colors are not just for the warmer seasons.

Shapes also played a significant role throughout the collection, mainly through the structures of different garments. The construction of many looks visibly displays geometric elements, even taking shape for the look in its entirety, such as triangular necklines or silhouettes and circular cutouts from the backs and sides of sundresses. Even in some of the accessories, the use of geometric shapes takes the form of large circular handles or simple, thin, rectangular hair clips.

Speaking of accessories, the ones shown are simply chic, with assortments of head scarves, sunglasses, and mini belts. But what is a Jacquemus show without their bags? Almost every look was paired with a bag, ranging from the signature Jacquemus clutches and handbags to large totes and duffels. Like the other pieces in this collection, the bags were just as vibrant in color.

For the final look of the collection, Jennie Kim made her runway debut, wearing a classic black halter dress, pairing the look with a turquoise clutch and zebra print heels to close off the show — a perfect combination of every unique feature display for this collection.
