LoveShackFancy’s Glorious Garden Party at NYFW

What do tulle, pink, and rainbow sprinkles have in common? Just ask founder and creative director of LoveShackFancy, Rebecca Hessel Cohen. Her brand, which launched in 2013, is already making waves with its big debut at New York Fashion Week this past Monday. On a mission to paint the world pink, LoveShackFancy’s Spring 2023 Presentation was every bit as whimsical as one would expect.

The presentation took the form of an elaborate garden party, which comes at no surprise considering that if there is one thing Cohen does best, it is florals. Amid the rose bushes, macaroons, and custom ice cream truck, models promenaded the venue wearing modern-day rococo fashion at its finest. The looks featured staple LoveShackFancy elements: chunky embellishments, lace galore, butterfly headpieces, oversized bows, and of course, lots of ruffles.

Whether they be electric fuschia or soft pastel, it is no secret that Cohen has a penchant for flirty designs and floral fabrics. While this collection is at no shortage of the girlishly innocent styles audiences have grown to love, the presentation unveiled silhouettes that signify the LoveShackFancy girl is growing up. This collection’s incorporation of plunging necklines, cropped tops, and black lace details takes the brand that screams Southamptons and injects it with the sex appeal of the city, a fitting touch as New York Fashion Week brings Cohen back to her roots in the Upper East Side.

Still, the presentation was no less playful than those LoveShackFancy has arranged in the past – a breath of fresh air from many routine fashion week shows. With floral parasols and paper fans in hand, models and guests celebrated with only the bare necessities of a great garden party. Which, if you are Rebecca Cohen, includes custom Veuve Clicquot champagne, soft serve with sprinkles, and a designer collection that is set to take spring to a whole new level.
