Roberto Cavalli’s most recent collection used a mix of exotic prints, eclectic styles, and sexy silhouettes to take a daring and statement-making approach to fashion.

Given that it was the first Cavalli show since his passing, there was no doubt that Fausto Puglisi was going to create something extravagant yet effortless. This collection embraced a shift from the brand’s traditional use of animal prints to a more refined exploration of seaside and somewhat Mediterranean themes.

Reminiscent of a seaside paradise, many looks evoked a laid-back feel of ease and comfort. The opening looks heavily showcased neutral colors; the tans almost mimicking sand. As the show progressed it transitioned into more colorful and innovative designs. While many pieces featured solid colors, graphics and motifs such as sunsets setting on a horizon and crashing waves were printed on slip dresses and other mediums.

Puglisi brought in elements such as reinvented rope and fishing net detailing paired with more structured fabrics, which gave an unexpected sense of cohesivity.

Puglisi presented gowns that flowed with grace, tapping into a familiar sense of glamour and extravagance. Many looks were embellished with intricate crystals, ultimately making for a mermaid-esque feel. Other looks featured faux snakeskin, conveying the fierce style of Cavalli.

The show concluded with a memorable showcase of several archival looks that encapsulate Roberto Cavalli’s unmistakable style and approach to fashion.

Untamed yet tasteful is what Cavalli sought to express, and there is no doubt that this collection did just that.
