“Figure out what you’re excited about and pursue it! There’s no such this as ‘doing the right thing’ when it comes to your career. Always give yourself permission to explore! You always have the option to pivot your trajectory and go after what you love.”

Daily Drills is simply a company that makes clothes you can live your life in. The owners, Kennedy Crichlow and Mary Ralph Lawson, launched the company with love in November of 2020, amidst the global pandemic. Despite the nature of the times the two young entrepreneurs have kickstarted their careers as the creators of the products at the top of everyone’s wishlist.

“Daily Drills is truly an extension of me and Kennedy. Everything that we create for is something that we're kind of creating for ourselves. We have the ability to look in our closets and see where the gaps are - from there, we can figure out what to add and subtract, and Daily Drills has let us do that.”

You’re probably wondering, where did it all begin? Crichlow and Lawson were working for the same woman as freelancers in sunny, southern California when they started tossing around the idea of starting a company together. Even though they didn’t have a specific product in mind, they embarked on their journey together with full hearts and plenty of ambition. Crichlow recalls that her younger sister was the one who initially came up with the name “Daily Drills,” and it ended up sticking as the company’s irrefutably attention-getting name.

Since the initial launch last fall, the collections have had a breadth of colors and fit as a response to what the customers are wanting more of. Although the company started off as an activewear brand, Crichlow and Lawson started experimenting with loungewear pieces. Of course, no one is surprised that it has been the ultimate crowd favorite. The two California residents regularly touch base with their customers to answer their questions about products as well as collect ideas about the best colors, fabrics and fits to use for their products moving forward.

“We always want our customers to feel comfortable when they wear Daily Drills. Our products are designed so that the customer can style themselves.”

Crichlow and Lawson both get massive style inspiration from the likes of Morgan Stewart and Hailey Bieber - as we all do - and carry it over into the pieces they create for Daily Drills. The two owners are undeniably fashionable in their own right. Ralph speaks about Kennedy confidently as she says, “I feel like your style is pretty classic. You have staple pieces in your wardrobe, but there’s an eclectic twist. You'll wear a necklace or the thing that like a lot of people would see in the store, but never wear, and then when you mix in your classic pieces and make it your own.”

While Kennedy’s style makes “classic” and “modern” synonymous, the co-founder describes her business partner’s style as “the perfect mix between high and low items. You’re always styled no matter what mood you’re reflecting in your outfit.”

Their personal style heavily influences not only the products they make but their business philosophy too. Lawson reveals that some of their style icons have inspired them to continue to think outside of the box whilst maintaining a consistent brand for their company.

Although Crichlow and Lawson are in the heart of the fashion industry, it can still be a mystery because there is always something new to learn. Here’s one last piece of wisdom from the brains behind Daily Drills:

“I love waking up excited to go to work! You are learning a lot as you go, but I find myself wanting to put in extra work every day and stay late every night. From afar, the fashion industry looks glamorous, but you don't feel cute and fashionable a lot of the time because you're in the thick of it. It’s important to be okay with getting your hands dirty.” - Kennedy Crichlow

“Get a mentor that works in the fashion space. It's a very hard area to tackle. You can definitely do it if you put the work in, but I believe that getting a mentor or someone you can ask questions to who has done it before you is key.” - Mary Ralph Lawson
