The Row Summer 2024

The Row Summer 2024

Two days into Paris Fashion Week, The Row presented its summer 2024 collection. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, creators of The Row, have mentioned that the inspiration behind their brand stems from past experiences of seamstresses and tailors ripping garments apart to create the perfect fit. This is pulled together in the house’s well-tailored, high-quality materials, and quiet luxury aesthetic.

The venue of the show was located at 19 Rue des Capucines. The notorious simplicity of The Row complemented the rococo style of the interior, neither competing with the other for the audience's attention. The juxtaposition of the extravagant architecture and the well-made clothing highlighted the lines, tailoring, and silhouette of each piece, which is the main focus when the Olsens curate a design.

A signature of The Row is embracing the imperfect. This visual presentation comes from the influence of the Japanese art style Wabi Sabi, which means the beauty of things appearing to be unfinished. The collection consisted of 36 looks, each  demonstrating the wearability and effortlessness of every one of the brand’s designs. The slightly un-done finish of neutral trousers in look 15 paired with a woven tote resembles stylish everyday wear.

Taking into consideration the changing seasons, multiple capes, trench coats, and hoods were displayed. Since the house’s focal point is versatility, colored pieces are seldom in collections; however, these outerwear items came in an assortment of red, green, and a pop of chartreuse.

A trend to look for in the upcoming season that was highlighted in this collection is mesh shoes. Shown on models in various colors, the mesh shoe adds an intricate twist to an ordinary pair of flats.

Attendants of the front row were dressed especially for the occasion. Pamela Anderson and Kaia Gerber wore pantsuits, and Kendall Jenner wore a fitted trench coat tucked into a pencil skirt. All three front row stars paid their respects  by embracing the essence of The Row.
