Trend Spotlight: Mid-Calf and Knee-High Boots

Trend Spotlight: Mid-Calf and Knee-High Boots

By: Alyssa Moncrief

Fall 2020 has ushered in a new era of the 90s fashion revival. What was once old is now new---from leather blazers and schoolgirl-inspired fits, to baguette bags circa Fendi ‘92.

Trendsetters like Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber have become the it girls for sporting fall fashion trends that are taking the world by storm, and brands have been quick to come out with on-trend pieces available to anyone who wishes to take inspiration from this season’s most popular looks.

This year’s hottest accessory started gaining momentum last year when Kendall Jenner stepped out in a pair of sleek, calf-hugging leather boots, and has exploded with the popularity of the ‘lug boot’, a military-inspired mid-calf boot made popular by Bottega Veneta and Prada, and adapted by more affordable brands such as Asos and Free People. Gone are the days of ankle boots and Uggs, welcome back high-fashion mid-calf and knee-high boots for A/W 2020.

Knee-high boots are one of the easiest pieces to wear on and off the runway with amazing options from low to high-end designers being offered this season. To get the look for less, check out stores such as Forever 21 and Steve Madden.

One tip when seeking out knee-high boots this season is to avoid suede and softer fabrics in favor of faux leather or faux-croc prints. Look for a pair with no chain or gaudy details on the top of the boot as well-the sleeker the better.

Pair this look with all-leather outfits, mini skirts, or tailored slacks for a street style worthy look that is easy to wear whether you are stepping out for the night or running errands during the day.

To sport the mid-calf trend, head to ASOS for the highly sought after ‘ALANA’ chunky chelsea boot. For $56.00, you can sport the boot seen all over London and Copenhagen Fashion Weeks and worn by fashion bloggers like Delaney Childs. For an option you may already have in your wardrobe, try styling Doc Martens with sheer tights and a blazer or a tennis skirt and oversized sweater.
