Trend Spotlight: Throwback Edition
Trend Spotlight: Throwback Edition
By: Elena Ossoski
There is not a lot in this world that I love to explore more than the revival of trends, especially the ones that ruled the nineties. Global pandemic aside, 2020 will forever be the year that nineties Gwyneth Paltrow came back to life.
The nineties: a decade defined by its muted, monochromatic tones and simplistic grunge style. We all know that leather is nothing groundbreaking, but the reincarnation of the leather trouser is taking over our trend-driven world.
In contrast to the material’s status as a ‘classic’ and ‘wardrobe staple,’ leather trousers have become a fashion girl’s favorite, on-trend, statement piece.
Model turned designer, Alex Chung, notoriously sports leather trousers as she hops from one big city to the next one. Fashion-forward influencers such as Josefine H. Jensen and Camille Charriere have been featuring this trend in their latest Instagram posts, giving life to one of Paltrow’s wardrobe staples from decades ago.
Bloomingdale’s, Zara, ShopBop, Express, Levi’s--the list could go on and on forever. If you name a brand or store: they are selling leather pants right now.
