5 Halloween Costumes You Already Have In Your Closet

5 Halloween Costumes You Already Have In Your Closet

By: Lexie Hudnall

Costume party season is upon us! While some people love finding the most extravagant costume year after year, others would rather not drop seventy dollars on a flapper dress just to discard it after one wear. If you find yourself relating to these sentiments, you are in luck because I have rounded up five costumes you can piece together with clothes you already have in your closet.

  1. Sandy from Grease

No costume round-up is complete without Sandy from Grease. This outfit stands the test of time and remains an easily recognizable classic. All you need are some black pants, a black top and some red accessories!

2. Taylor Swift Albums

This one is for all the Taylor Swift enthusiasts out there. Each of Swift’s albums has its unique flair, which makes them the perfect source of inspiration for a costume. Choose an album and embrace its aesthetic from head to toe! Here, I took inspiration from Lover, Reputation, and Folklore.

3. Decades: 70s

Styles from the 70s are back--thank goodness! It is time to pull out the bell-bottoms, floral prints, and Farrah Fawcett hair. Top it off with a chunky belt, and you will be groovy!

4. Iris Apfel

Have you ever wanted to channel your inner Iris Apfel? Now is the time to emulate this fashion icon’s signature, over-the-top style. Pile on your statement jewelry and pop on your biggest pair of glasses.

5. Holly Golightly from Breakfast at Tiffany’s

This is yet another classic outfit that you can easily recreate. All you need is an oversized white button-down, some tassel earrings, and an eye mask. Make sure to sleep until noon, and you will have mastered the art of Holly Golightly.

It is possible to put together a great costume without having to break the bank. All you need is a little inspiration!
