Trend Spotlight: Mesh Shoes

As kitten heels and ballet flats continue to dominate footwear, it comes as no surprise that the styles are seeing evolved reiterations. The up-and-coming textures of mesh and lace give an edge to softer styles without compromising wearability.

Seen on Jennifer Lawrence in July 2023, the trend has steadily grown to prominence over the past six months. Trend Forecaster Kendall Becker believes the trend will stick around well into 2024, carrying into the 2024-25 holiday season.

Searches for mesh shoes are up 3,464% from this time last year according to Trendalytics and currently average 2,000 searches per week. The trend has manifested at several price points and variations. Sheer shoes can be seen in Spring 2024 collections by Aquazurra and Givenchy as well as recent collections by Kahite, Jimmy Choo, and Britt Netta, among others.

See-through shoes may prove themselves a year-round staple, as the breathable materials will make for cooler wear in summer months in comparison to their classic leather counterparts.
