Winter Coats to Wear This Holiday Season

Winter Coats to Wear This Holiday Season

By: Alyssa Moncrief

It is never easier to try out different trends or new forms of fashion than during the winter months; more layers of an outfit means more opportunity to share your style. With the cold season comes the necessity for winter coats and jackets, or if you live in a warmer climate, light layers that can be taken on and off an outfit.

If you are simply looking for a cute coat to stay warm all season long, try long coats in a neutral color or fashion puffers to match all outfits for all occasions. Stores like Target and Asos have great options and dupes for iconic pieces like Canada Goose coats.

If you are spending your break working and channeling your inner #girlboss, wear a coat that looks chic and sleek while still feeling trendy. Some of this season’s most popular coats are work appropriate and still warm and cute. Try a chestnut-colored trench or mid-length coat over your favorite skirt or slacks.

The season's trendiest coat that can be seen on every influencer and trendsetter is the “shacket”. Worn either as a jacket or buttoned up as a top, this can be an easy and versatile way to incorporate fashion into your everyday outfits. These pieces are perfect for warmer climates or can be layered under a warmer coat if necessary. Try finding items made of fun materials, such as leather or plaid, to dress it up even more.

If you have a holiday party or night out that you have to dress up for but still need to stay warm, try pairing long, glitzy coats over dresses or statement jackets with cute jeans and a blouse. These pieces can be found online at stores like Revolve, Zara, or Asos, or many times in local boutiques as well.

It can be fun and easy to dress up an outfit with a cute coat or jacket to keep warm and portray your style no matter the occasion.
