5 Podcasts for Your Next Walk

By: Lexie Hudnall

Walking: arguably the fastest growing recreational activity of 2020. I, too, have adopted this as a daily ritual, and when I cannot find someone to bring along, I opt to listen to a podcast instead.

I have compiled a non-exhaustive list of my current favorites to listen to when I am craving inspiration or entertainment. Listen to these podcasts on your next evening stroll, or when you want to feel inspired or refreshed--you might even learn something new!

Conscious Chatter.jpg

1. Conscious Chatter with Kestrel Jenkins

Kestrel Jenkins invites listeners to become a more conscious consumer while learning about all things sustainability. This podcast features sustainable fashion pioneers from the industry who keep responsible practices at the center of their businesses. After hearing from leaders in the industry, you, too, will want to make more sustainable decisions, and you might discover several new favorite brands.

Thick and Thin.jpg

2. Thick and Thin with Katy Bellotte

Katy Bellotte’s podcast seems like a personal diary in which she chronicles her life experiences and personal struggles while providing insightful advice for those who might be experiencing the same things. She does not shy away from difficult topics, and her gift of storytelling in conjunction with her vulnerability makes for captivating episodes each week.

What We Said.jpg

3. What We Said with Chelsey Curtis and Jaci Smith

While listening to this podcast, you feel like you are just chatting with your girlfriends! Chelsey and Jaci, best friends and co-hosts, unpack a range of topics from first date horror stories to tips on how to live a more balanced life. Listen to this podcast if you are looking for life advice and want to laugh a little along the way.

How I Built This.jpg

4. How I Built This with Guy Raz

Warning: you will want to change your major to entrepreneurship after listening to this podcast. Host Guy Raz walks you through the roller-coaster ride of creating a successful business through his interviews with entrepreneurs and CEOs across all disciplines. Some of my favorite episodes feature Ty Haney of Outdoor Voices and Emily Weiss of Glossier.

The Happiness Lab.jpg

5. The Happiness Lab with Dr. Laurie Santos

We could all use a little more happiness, right? Yale professor Dr. Laurie Santos brings you the science behind the emotions we experience, and she explores the recipe for a happier life. Spoiler alert: the ingredients usually are not what you would expect.

If you did not have an excuse to go for a walk today, you do now. Throw on your tennis shoes, grab your headphones, and listen to one of these podcasts!
