Ditching The Ornaments: Why Pom-poms Are the Holiday’s Most Underrated Accessory

During the holiday season, things that glitter can be beautiful while somewhat impractical. People are typically crowded indoors towards the warmth of the heater. Energy is high, and most guests are in constant motion trying to catch up with friends and family they haven’t seen since the last holiday season. Broken ornaments can create a mess for the host and their guests. No one has to fear broken decorations when pom-poms are utilized as a form of decor. Subject to customization, pom-poms can serve many purposes during the holidays and year-round.
Here are a few of my favorite ways to use colorful accents:
Wreaths
Pom-pom wreaths present a unique way to incorporate color and texture into one’s home. Although there are many handmade options to buy from businesses, building a pom-pom wreath can be a unique way to celebrate the holiday season. One of the easiest ways to make a wreath that will last through the seasons is using different kinds of yarn to form pom-poms.
Garlands and Ornaments
Whether adorning a tree or a mantle, pom-poms are lightweight and easy to string onto light strands or yarn. Tinsel-threaded or metallic pom-poms would bring all the sparkle of a new year without the messiness of glitter.
Pom-pom Sweaters and Winter Hats
For those hoping to carry festivity with them wherever they go, pom-poms provide warm and whimsical options. Monochromatic pom-poms can create a subtle texture on a sweater.
