Fall Decor for the Classic Minimalist
Fall Decor for the Classic Minimalist

As the fall holidays approach, the excitement of decorating your home with your family, friends, or roommates comes quickly with them. Although the act of decorating is exciting, it can be difficult for any who adhere to a more minimalistic aesthetic.
While piles of orange and purple and black sparkles line most department stores, those of us looking for classic pieces to integrate into our strategically curated home can be overwhelming. The task of maintaining your minimalist taste while sifting through piles of plastic pumpkins and faux leaves can be exhausting, but it is possible to find contemporary beauty in the midst of the markets filled with glitter and plastic.
It is best to keep things simple when decorating to ensure that your personalized, decluttered home keeps its personalized ambience. There are ways to encapsulate your holiday spirit without ruining your thoughtfully decorated home.
Utilize unique candles
This suggestion might seem overstated, but replacing items you already own with festive items during the holidays is the best way to maintain the charm and simplicity of your style. Candles are a fall staple, which makes the addition of a simple themed candle all the better. If you have preexisting candles in your home, store those away for the duration of the season to prevent clutter and add a subtle touch of fall to your small spaces.
Bring in the outdoors
Although sometimes faux greenery can be overdone, adding a touch of tasteful branches or flowers can be the perfect addition to mark the change of the season. Hints of bronze, gold, and even orange within the plants is a great subtle touch that can be added to mantles, shelves, windowsills, or anywhere throughout your home without disrupting your existing decor.
Restyle your bedding
Instead of purchasing new bedding to match your “holiday vibe,” update your existing garments with chic pillow covers and throws. This small addition of fall covers to your spaces gives just the right amount of fall ambience without overpowering your existing style and breaking the bank. The key to integrating these pieces into your living areas is to seek out colors with warm undertones that still pair nicely with neutrals. Burnt orange accents are popular, but hunter green accents are a perfect transition that can last you through the new year.
Reduce, reuse, recycle
The easiest way to accommodate your sense of style is to reuse or restyle pieces you have and add your own personal touches. Everyone has those pieces that they hide away out of risk that it will ruin their perfect decor, but what if it was possible to style it to your liking while reducing spending? This season, try repurposing that plastic jack-o-lantern into a chic, repainted festive vase that incorporates well into your decor.
This year, do not let the tacky decor overpower your dedication to making a timeless home. With dedication and a little bit of patience, holiday decor can fit into your beautifully designed space.
