How to Plan the Perfect Staycation

Who says you need to leave home to have a vacation? Summer weather, time off from classes, and endless online inspiration make having the perfect vacation easier than ever – no travel necessary.
The most important component of any vacation is relaxation, so creating the perfect staycation starts with removing all distractions and stress from your routine. This means calling off of work, letting people know you will be unavailable, and committing to treating your staycation as if you were in a completely different time zone.
Set a few days aside for your staycation, even if it is just the weekend. Then it comes time to decide what your ideal staycation will look like. Lounging by the pool all day, trying new restaurants in town, or taking some time to read a new book are all simple ways to make your home feel a little more like an oasis.
Most vacations involve other people tagging along with you, and your staycation does not need to be any different. Grab a friend or two who could use a little summer break to join you on your at-home vacation. Pick up lots of snacks and fun drinks so you will not need to worry about trips to the grocery store taking away from your relaxation time.
To make sure everyone keeps to the staycation mindset, consider turning phones on do not disturb, or putting away laptops so no one is tempted to get back to the real world. Vacation is a time for self-care and downtime, and a true staycation should honor these traditions.
No matter where you live, there is something you can do to make your home a peaceful getaway for a few days. You deserve a vacation as much as anyone else, so do not hesitate to take some time for yourself this summer with a staycation fit to whatever your needs may be.
