Reduce Your Screen Time

Reduce Your Screen Time

By Claire Watkiss

With the semester in full swing and spring upon us, now is the perfect time to find ways to both reset and relax. Whether you constantly find yourself on screens for school, work, or socializing, it can be nice to take a break. Here are a few ways you can unplug and unwind.

Find a new book to read

If you find yourself scrolling on TikTok at the end of a long day, it may be time to opt for a healthier choice. Reading just a few pages before bed can promote better sleep. Pick a book that is an easy and entertaining read. This habit can quickly form and end up being something you look forward to every day.

Create new outfits in your closet

With the trend cycle moving faster than ever, it can be overwhelming to keep up. Play around with the items in your closet and see what new outfits you can create. This will help you get better use of what you have and be a creative way to spend your time.

Build a bouquet

Fresh flowers are the best reminder of springtime. Go to your nearest grocery store and pick out some different options to mix and make your bouquet. You can even invite a friend along if you want to make it social.

Eat outside

It can be easy to find ourselves on a device while eating a meal. Challenge yourself to take your food outside and sit in the sun without your phone. You will better enjoy your meal and feel less anxious about the next thing on your to-do list.

Go for a phone-free walk

Vitamin D can be all your body and mind need to take a break. Go for a walk outside without your phone and soak up the sounds of nature.

In a world that is chronically online, this season is the perfect opportunity to create healthy habits away from the screen. You will be glad to find your mind focusing on something other than your email inbox and social media feeds.
