Square Spotlight: Gray DuPerier

“It may sound cliché, but fashion is the greatest way to express yourself. The outward expression allows people to communicate without saying a word. I do really enjoy seeing how people express themselves through how they choose to dress.”

Oxford, Mississippi, born and raised, Gray DuPerier has made Ole Miss a place to call her own. DuPerier is a junior studying psychology, a member of the Ole Miss Women’s Council, and our campus’s very own modern-day-bohemian-rockstar style inspiration. DuPerier’s everyday looks are reminiscent of Kate Moss’s boho days, emphasizing comfort while maintaining an understated stylish edge.

“My style is definitely a little bit more laid back. There are a few things that I love to wear over and over, but I love to change out my accessories - I’m the biggest jewelry lover.”

Adding jewels that hold sentimental value to a wardrobe full of favorites is the trademark of a timeless sense of style. With simplicity at the forefront of her mind, DuPerier is inspired by her best friend, Alden Maloney, and classically cool icon Zoë Kravitz.

“Ever since my friend Alden went to study abroad in Italy, she has had the chance to fully find herself. She is completely herself and it’s the coolest, most inspirational thing ever.”

Finding solace in her free time spent outdoors or with a book of her choice, DuPerier’s laid-back personal style is translated in the silhouettes that she finds most comfortable to her.

“After working at Cicada for three years, I was really able to hone in on the styles that work the best for me and the styles and pieces that I love the most.”

DuPerier knows the value of knowing yourself, which includes knowing what you love to wear. She thinks back on how her style has changed since coming to Ole Miss, and the biggest change has been the level of comfort that she has with herself and her style choices.
