Come one, come all… this is your chance to be a part of Square Magazine!
We are so excited to announce that the 2021-22 Square Magazine Staff Application is officially live! Keep reading for more information on how to become an integral part of Ole Miss’s first fashion magazine.
The staff will be categorized into five teams by their content focus area: Editorial, Creative, Business, Social Media, and Digital.
In addition to answering the required questions on the application, you will be prompted to submit at least one project depending on which team(s) you are applying for. The projects are different for every team, but they are all designed in a fashion that will allow us to easily identify an individual’s capabilities and skill set.
Who are we looking for? Skilled writers with innovative ideas.
Editorial Projects:
Write a well-developed, 800+ word story that would belong in a print magazine.
Write a captivating 500+ word article that would belong on the Square Magazine website.
All projects must be fully completed to be considered for a team member position.
Who are we looking for? Graphic designers, coders, and spread designers.
Digital Projects:
Design a spread for a print magazine using content that has been published by Square Magazine.
Create two original graphics. The content that you use can be your own, something that Square has published, or a combination of both.
All projects must be fully completed to be considered for a team member position.
Who are we looking for? Individuals who are ambitious, outgoing, and are able to excel in a professional setting.
Business Projects:
List 10 businesses/brands that we should work with that we have never worked with before as well as why we should collaborate with them in the future.
Pitch us an idea for an event that Square Magazine could host.
All projects must be fully completed to be considered for a team member position.
Who are we looking for? Photographers, stylists, make-up artists, and visionaries.
Creative Project:
Plan and execute your own photoshoot. Show us how you can transform your ideas into something you can show off!
The project must be fully completed to be considered for a team member position.
Who are we looking for? Individuals who can use their social media skills and eye for design to execute the concepts that are expressed by the magazine as a whole.
Social Media Projects:
Design an Instagram feed using all original content.
Create one of the two that would be a good fit for Square’s Instagram page: IGTV or Reel.
Draft a series of Instagram stories.
All projects must be fully completed to be considered for a team member position.
All questions and projects within the application must be fully completed as well as 100% original work to be considered.
