Zara Larsson’s Electrifying Rebrand
Zara Larsson’s Electrifying Rebrand
By Sophie Amen - February 26, 2026
Zara Larsson—the Swedish singer reminiscent of a 2000s Malibu Barbie doll—has made waves in the pop music industry, not only with her killer vocals, but also her fashion sense. According to Larsson, summer isn’t over yet, and her philosophy is shown through her wardrobe. She never misses an opportunity to showcase her signature beachy, mermaid-esque, Y2K maximalist aesthetic, whether on stage or in her everyday wardrobe.
However, her presence in the industry wasn’t always this prominent. Larsson entered the industry at age 10 when she won Season 2 of “Talang,” Sweden’s version of “America’s Got Talent.” Her talent was simply beyond her age, and she was clearly made for more than local fame.
Larsson’s international breakthrough happened in the mid-2010s with the release of “Lush Life” and “Never Forget You” from her 2017 album So Good. The album went multi-platinum and perfectly captured the energy of the 2016 era. It has been revisited by millions of fans since, garnering billions of streams.
After the success of her breakthrough album, Larsson seemed to retreat from the spotlight. While she continued to have a prosperous career, it was difficult for her to surpass the success of So Good—until TikTok and dolphins turned her world upside down.
In the summer of 2024, her song “Symphony” went viral on TikTok. The now instantly recognizable dolphin meme transformed her image and exposed her music to millions globally on social media.
“I think that’s just something that has to happen organically… All I could do was join in on it. The whole thing is just like happy dolphins, vivid colors, Lisa Frank core, ‘Symphony’ in the background. All those things combined made for a fun trend everyone could join in on,” she said on a podcast interview with Rolling Stone.
Instead of dismissing it as a silly joke, she leaned into it. It ended up giving the song a huge revival, and Larsson gained the exposure and the signature aesthetic she has today. On top of this, Larsson opened for Tate McRae on the North American leg of McRae’s Miss Possessive Tour in 2025. This further boosted Larsson’s U.S. presence and inspired her future Midnight Sun tour.
On that note, her most recent album, Midnight Sun, is taking over people’s playlists and giving all the summer energy in the dead of winter. The title track, “Midnight Sun,” which features a distinctively catchy riff, was nominated for Best Dance Pop Recording at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
Amid the biggest year of her career, Larsson continues to tap into her visual aesthetic with tropical, vibrant, and ethereal outfits. Larsson delivers look after look with her stylist, Caterina Ospina: beachy florals, neon airbrushed baby tees, bikinis, sheer skirt sets embellished with crystals designed by Alineo Studio, and charms dangling from her sequined mini skirts designed by Ayque Chulo, just to name a few.
Her custom tour outfits are only one aspect of her style. Her makeup artist, Sophia Sinot, has gone viral on social media, taking Larsson’s aesthetic one step further with whimsical, rhinestone-filled makeup looks.
“Zara and I have always really loved sparkles and glitter and pink and anything colorful and glamorous. But I think over the past five years, we’ve definitely done that, but there’s never really been a set aesthetic we had for her–it kind of went all over the place,” Sinot stated in an interview with Teen Vogue.
The glam speaks for itself; the dazzling looks perfectly portray Larsson’s brand and themes of color and warmth.
It’s safe to say no one’s doing it like Zara Larsson. With each album, fabulous fashion moment, and stunning makeup look, Larsson creates her own universe of fun, fresh whimsicality, defining what it means to be a pop star.
