10 Sustainable Brands to Shop This Holiday Season

By: Emma Greene

During the holidays, it can be difficult to avoid unsustainable brands and shopping habits, but it does not have to be. If your holiday shopping season is not quite over, here are ten unique and sustainable brands that are sure to please any fashion lover or environmentalist on your list.

1. For Days

For Days items are 100% recyclable and produced using their zero-waste system. Their sustainable styles for both men and women are constructed entirely of organic, non-toxic materials which they can reuse to create new garments time and time again.

2. ABLE

Founded in Nashville, ABLE is a female-founded and female-run business. ABLE is dedicated to bringing high-quality products to their customers and to empowering and bettering the lives of women who work for them. They offer a lifetime guarantee and size swapping on all items sold, no matter how much time has passed since purchase.

3. Boyish

Boyish is a sustainable and entirely vegan women’s clothing company founded in California. Inspired by menswear, Boyish focuses on creating classic silhouettes with a modern twist. Although they have since expanded, Boyish was originally founded as a denim company. Each pair of Boyish jeans is produced using ⅓ the average amount required in denim production.

4. Sézane

Parisien brand Sézane is dedicated to “je ne sais quoi for all.” Their products, which are “high-quality and perfectly-cut,” according to their website, are guaranteed sustainable and ethical by five industry certifications.

5. Quince

Best known for its affordable silk and cashmere products, Quince’s core values are quality, sustainability, and affordability. The brand was founded by former high-end fashion employees who believe “everyone deserves to fill their life with the finer things.”

6. Asket

Asket is dedicated to “the pursuit of less.” Their items are designed and produced with longevity in mind. They do not design new products seasonally, but rather to be repaired when damaged or returned and recycled when a customer is done wearing them. Asket offers repair instructions and replacement buttons, zippers, patches and threads for customers who wish to revive well-worn pieces.

7. Omnes

Climate-positive brand Omnes is determined to help the fashion industry become more conscious one item at a time. Omnes products are constructed from single-fiber textiles whenever possible to make them as easily recyclable as possible.

8. Proclaim

Proclaim’s inclusive line of nude lingerie is designed, manufactured, and shipped all within a 30-mile radius. The Los Angeles-based brand’s products are made from locally sourced, environmentally friendly materials.

9. The R Collective

The R Collective produces their items with textiles which have otherwise been wasted by luxury brands. Working with designers from all around the world, The R Collective creates capsule wardrobe style clothing that customers can wear with a clear conscience.

10. Bamford

Bamford’s core belief is that “what we put on our body should be as nourishing and nurturing as what we put inside it through our food.” The brand partners with artisans from around the world to bring their expert craftsmanship to a wider audience. Bamford sells a wide range of products, including clothing, beauty products, homewares, and more.
