22 Trending Clothing Pieces

22 Trending Clothing Pieces

By: Annabelle Lawson

With the weather getting colder and our closets getting fuller, it is important to pull out statement pieces for the upcoming winter season. From everyday denim to embellished elegance, this list will have you covered all season long.

Adidas Sambas

The Adidas Samba has been dubbed the “shoe of the season,” seen in several brand collaborations and on the feet of our favorite celebrities. From streetwear to formal attire, these shoes are a classic for any occasion.

Luxury loungewear

Comfort is an increasingly important part of everyday fashion, and sweat sets are the perfect way to look cute and be cozy while out and about. Brands like Daily Drills are combining luxury with loungewear, with their sets taking the fashion world by storm. Whether it is cropped shirts, layered boxers, or terry cloth pants, loungewear can be dressed up or down for a soft statement.

Silk cargo pants

Making a comeback from the early 2000s, cargo pants can be seen wandering the streets or the workplace, this time in silk. Neutral or pastel, silk cargo pants are an elegant low-waisted option and are offered at a range of stores from Cinq á Sept to Zara.

Red leather jackets

Arguably the color of the year, red has made its way into the mainstream market for statement leather jackets. The bold color gives an edge to the timeless clothing piece.

Ankle socks

White ankle socks are all the rage these days – at least, as much as socks can be. First featured in many of our preschool days, they can revolutionize the way we style our footwear. Sneakers, flats, or loafers can be elevated with a ruffle ankle sock.

STAUD shoulder bag

Whether on-the-go or dressing up, STAUD’s collection of shoulder bags will spice up any outfit. Mini or mid-sized, they come in a variety of materials like alligator, suede, and leather. Our personal favorite is the beaded collection.

Knit half-zip sweaters

Oversized pullovers make us want to sip a warm latte and read a good book. As the temperatures are dropping, these half-zip sweaters provide an insulated outer layer with a relaxed collar.

Bows

Winter 2023 has become the unofficial season of bows. The obsession over bows has spilled into just about everything - ties on boots, hair accessories, jacket clasps, nail designs, and even phone cases. During London fashion week, designer Simone Rocha even lined models’ faces with bows that represented tears.

Wool Scarves

Both elegant and practical, a wool scarf is the best way to wrap up the fall weather and warm up for winter. Trending with blazers and trench coats, these scarfs are stocked in stores in vibrant colors or neutrals. Designers like GANNI have eye-catching scarves in patterns or fringe.

Business casual

Sophisticated style is taking charge this year. Oversized and tailored blazers, hemmed dressed shirts, and pleated pants are creating a chic workplace.

Pearl-embellished tops

Word on the street is that pearls are tired of being retired after the warm summer months. Adding to the winter lookbook, pearl tops have become an intricate layering piece this year. Perfect for a concert, night out, or New Year’s Eve, these tops are a must-have.

‘90s wrap chokers

Long leather necklaces can be the finishing touch to any simple outfit. Emerging in the late 1990s and blending into the early 2000s, leather cord necklaces allow for a bold look without any hassle.

Low-rise pants

Bouncing back into the fashion zeitgeist, low-rise pants are no-longer limited to jeans, with different materials and styles hopping aboard the silhouette trend.  Alexander McQueen caused a lot of chatter when he presented his “Bumster” pants on the runway in the 1990s. Now, we see them being worn with crop tops or chunky sweaters, a flattering element to many outfits this season.

Ugg tasman slippers

These shoes may have been dubbed as slippers, but UGG has created versions that are acceptable for everyday wear.  Platform, mini, and standard UGGs can be found just about anywhere. UGG’s durable sole creates an easily slipped on shoe that can be worn at home or on-the-go. Grab your own pair for the holidays before they sell out... again!

Vintage watches

Luxury watches are being replaced with smartwatches, but vintage watches have managed to be the front-page underdog story. Whether the classic is thrifted, bought new, or inherited, they are a timeless piece that men or women can embrace.

Quilted jackets

Did you know that quilts actually originate from Medieval times? Families would share their history and stories by sewing together pieces of fabric, usually with unique patterns. Now, quilted jackets have gone viral for their colorful variety and are the perfect transitional pieces to add to your collection of light jackets.

Gym shorts

Sweat shorts are a comfortable addition to a lazy outfit to throw together and give you the ultimate “cool-girl” look to rock this season.

Colossal collars

Wondering how to shine this holiday season? Exaggerated collars are not a phase; they are here to stay. Giant collars on a button-down or blouse can compliment any outfit and frame your look.

Long denim skirts

A durable staple for any season, we have seen long denim skirts accompany everything from bodysuits and tank tops to sweaters and coats. Easy to dress up or down, asymmetrical denim maxi skirts seem to be the freshest pick this season, extending the denim craze into a new style.

Colored sunglass lenses

In the 1960s, tortoise and solid wide-framed sunglasses blossomed. With the lenses ranging in transparency, they were created to resemble a flower. Now, people are utilizing them as a staple piece. Elisa Johnson has taken the sunglass industry by storm with her timeless yet funky eyewear designs.

Minimalist belts

Thin straps with large buckles are the perfect complements to bring an outfit together. Whether you are wearing pleated pants or a maxi dress, sometimes a simple thin belt is needed to break up the outfit.

Maxi skirts

Last but not least, maxi skirts are a great staple for year-round fun. Maxi skirts, usually flowy and not fitted, add some truth to the somewhat outdated saying, “modest is hottest.”

These trends, outfits, and styles are the perfect addition to your holiday wishlist. From cozy to couture, you can test out these statement pieces all season long.
