Alex Cooper’s Royal Wedding Wardrobe

Alex Cooper’s Royal Wedding Wardrobe

By Brooklyn Hoffmann

If you have had access to the internet in the past few years, you have probably heard of Alex Cooper. The co-creator and host of the weekly Call Her Daddy tied the knot with partner Matthew “Matt” Kaplan, founder and CEO of Ace Entertainment, on April 6 during an intimate beachside wedding in Riviera Maya.

Podcast fame aside, Cooper has also become a sort of fashion guru. This is shown through her hand-picked and intricately-styled wedding outfits, which have been the talk of the fashion industry.

The Call Her Daddy host is known for her transparency on social media, but kept the wedding a secret until April 24 when Vogue published an exclusive piece on the event. Cooper then took to her Instagram to document every part of the dreamy ceremony.  Kaplan explained that the couple wanted it to feel like a vacation, saying, “We weren’t looking to have a formal wedding. We wanted it to feel relaxed and authentic to us and the location, so from decor to the festivities it all was very naturally curated.”

Cooper worked with stylist Mimi Cuttrell to find her perfect wedding weekend wardrobe, including the dress. Thursday night, Cooper donned a Danielle Frankel set embroidered with baroque pearls and transparent sequins that matched the venue’s speakeasy vibe.

Friday night, the bride wore a vintage Donna Karan dress to the “rehearsal,” which was really just a laid-back hangout session on the beach. The morning of the wedding, Cooper got ready in a Victoria Beckham slip dress and Jimmy Choo Elme Ballerina shoes.

For the most important outfit of the weekend, however, Cooper had a bit harder of a time in her search. After trying on multiple designer dresses she did not love, Cooper resorted to Pinterest where she found a Danielle Frankel dress in the realm of what she wanted. Cuttrell then reached out to Danielle Frankel to create a custom gown mimicking the one on Pinterest by tweaking the V-line to a straight line and adjusting the drop waist. Cooper then paired it with a short, blush veil to complete the look, saying, “The dress truly turned out to be my dream. I felt so classic and chic in it. I felt confident and sexy while still elegant and timeless. From there, the rest of the looks fell into place.”

Cooper then chose a vintage, silk chiffon corset Alexander McQueen dress for the after-party and a 1995 Versace ecru lace-up corset top and custom skirt for the after-after-party.

To say Alex Cooper Kaplan’s wedding weekend wardrobe was as meticulously-picked and beautifully-designed as they come is an understatement. The pearl off-white looks ventured away from the classic stark white brides usually wear on the special day. Each look was unique and breathtaking—much like Alex Cooper herself.
