Alice + Olivia Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear

Alice + Olivia Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear

By Brooklyn Hoffmann — February 14, 2025

The Alice + Olivia Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection debuted at New York Fashion Week on Feb. 8, 2025.

For the collection, Stacey Bendet took inspiration from the great playwright William Shakespeare to create a line of whimsical ballgowns and ruffled neck collars. Initially compelled by the fairy-filled forests of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Bendet opted to expand to other plays including Merchant of Venice, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and All’s Well That Ends Well. Shakespeare’s life was a point of reflection for the designer as seen in voluminous tiered lace skirts and denim suits with dramatic sleeves. One of the designs featured a two-piece set comprising a bandeau top and a floor-length skirt with red roses and a script font reading “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The collection also included a multitude of tailored suits with intricate beading and extravagant frilled sleeves, reminiscent of the Elizabethan Era-style blouses seen in Shakespeare plays. The Elizabethan Era was a time of great cultural flourishing known as the English Renaissance. Queen Elizabeth I was a patron of the arts and theater, and Shakespeare's plays were performed for her. The fashion during this era was elegant and formal, with a focus on luxury and extravagance. Many of Bendet’s designs were layered on top of sheer stockings and mesh-lined blouses—similar to the undergarments women in the Elizabethan Era wore—and lighter fabrics such as cotton, linen, and silk were implemented throughout the show.

The Alice + Olivia Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection showcased Bendet’s range and creativity. The brand Alice + Olivia has long been known for juxtaposing flirty and whimsical with sophisticated and sexy styles, and Bendet’s use of pattern and color in this collection perfectly maintained that.
