Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2024

Carolina Herrera Fall/Winter 2024

Wes Gordon always draws inspiration from powerful women when designing for Carolina Herrera. Gordon’s latest collection seems to be heavily inspired by Carolina Herrera herself. The collection, which was shown at New York Fashion Week, was sophisticated and feminine, giving us both classic silhouettes and dramatic, structured pieces that formed a cohesive vision for the fall/winter 2024 season.

The show opened with a chic take on workwear, with a black, white, and red color palette. Cinched waists, form-fitting gowns, and full skirts all worked to accentuate the female form. There were matching sets that could be taken from the office to a popular New York restaurant with ease, many adorned with large gold buttons, wide collars, and thick belts.

The sleeve designs were the highlight of the show. Many looks in this year’s fall/winter collection feature bold, dramatic sleeves that give life to otherwise simple silhouettes. Ruffles had a commanding presence on the runway and were seen in everything from dresses and skirts to tops and the seams of trousers.

Traditionally feminine motifs with floral patterns, soft pinks, and bright yellows pulled the theme of the collection in a more playful direction. Floral dresses with fitted bodices and full, ruffled skirts graced the runway along with workwear-inspired looks in brighter colors.

The accessories and makeup were kept to a minimum, with most models sporting slicked-back hairstyles, red lips, and pointed heels. Earrings ranged from small, gold pairs to long, black fringe, while handbags were limited to thin clutches.

One of our favorite looks included a fitted, ankle-length plaid trench coat with matching trousers and oversized sunglasses that was reminiscent of Lily Van der Woodsen’s outfits in Gossip Girl.

Carolina Herrera is a cornerstone of American fashion, known for its flair and attention to detail, both of which were delivered by Gordon’s designs in this collection.
