Ferragamo Fall/Winter 2024

Maximilian Davis has had a clear view on Ferragamo’s place in fashion since he took over as creative director in 2022. His collections are meant to be a part of a simple yet complete wardrobe, each piece easy to build upon. For Ferragamo’s fall/winter 2024 collection, Davis continued this style with monochromatic looks in rich earth tones that managed to be both chic and uncomplicated.
Davis has been quoted saying that he wants “people to look at the show and see themself in one or two pieces.” This mission shines through in his designs for this collection, with knitwear, leather, silk, and wool looks offering something for every consumer.
Deep green, brown, and burgundy dominated the runway, with occasional splashes of red and yellow. The designs held true to the ready-to-wear mindset, each look styled with a casual sophistication that could easily be translated to everyday wear.
Long wool coats with thick, low-hanging belts were worn with sheer blouses or silky slip dresses for the perfect contrast of textures. Elegant tailoring eased the sharp lines of full leather sets and thigh-high leather boots added an edge to knitwear looks.
Shoes were designed to stand out, many seen with feathered accents to add a delicate component to otherwise harsh materials. Long fringe skirts were worn with thick wool coats to achieve a similar balance between masculine and feminine.
Chunky, knit sweaters were adorned with large pockets and paired with cargo-style shorts and heavy boots for a utilitarian take on a classic fall piece. The dresses were one of the most interesting aspects of the collection, some covered in fringe or large sequins that looked like scales while others were sheer and free-flowing.
Ferragamo is a quintessential Italian brand, and in this collection, Davis continues to prove that classic, ready-to-wear designs still have a place in the modern high fashion landscape.
