Ferragamo Spring 2024 Ready-To-Wear

Ferragamo has nearly a century of experience leading Italian fashion, but under the direction of Creative Director Maximilian Davis, the house has seen a push toward a more modern, fresh take on Italian elegance. Though Davis maintains the refined class of Ferragamo, he also incorporates his Caribbean heritage and love for the London party scene into his collections. In Ferragamo’s recent showing at Milan Fashion Week, Davis drew inspiration from Renaissance armor and Italian marble, continuing to transition the brand with each design element.
The footwear, which Ferragamo is known for, was sleek and wearable, though the bags were the more show-stealing accessory. Ranging from compact, neutral handbags to oversized shoulder bags in a variety of colors, the bags for both the male and female looks were equal parts sophisticated and playful.
Many of the female looks featured asymmetrical hemlines or leather panels that added a harsher detail to the otherwise simple silhouettes. Sage green was a prominent colorway, with an entire portion of the collection including the vivid hue. This is a transition from traditional Ferragamo red, which was only seen in one look in this collection.
The male looks were defined by Davis’s love for tailoring and attention to detail. The pieces appear durable yet effortless in true Italian form. Davis, who has been quoted in the past comparing the neutral pace of Italian life to the relaxed disposition of Caribbean culture, clearly demonstrated his focus on uplifting Ferragamo’s history while imbuing aspects of his own background in this collection.
Davis has cultivated a sensual and elegant direction for Ferragamo since his appointment, and his continued push towards creating luxury casualwear is placing Ferragamo back at the forefront of Italian fashion.
