Valentino Fall 2022 Couture Collection

Valentino Fall 2022 Couture Collection

On a summer evening in Rome, Pierpaolo Piccioli, the creative director of Valentino, displayed his new fall 2022 couture collection on the Spanish Steps in the Piazza Di Spagna.

Although everyone was left in awe of the entire collection, one of the first standout moments was the small details seen in each look. Ruffles, puff sleeves, flower details, and feathers were incorporated into every part of the ensembles, down to the shoes.

Each accessory was used ideally with each look and proved that fashion is a work of art. The collection was full of long gloves paired with evening gowns, jeweled fishnet stockings, lengthy, bold capes, and Piccioli’s iconic feather headpieces.

Color is something that Piccioli has focused on in his past collections for Valentino and continued to do so in his latest, most vibrant couture collection. From the first few looks to come down the runway steps, we immediately see bright colors pop throughout the entire collection. While some looks have a combination of colors, others displayed a strong color story through monochromatic pieces. Later in the show, we catch sight of bedazzled suits and gowns with the incorporation of neon colors into the accessories as well as the garments, all glittering in the dusk.

Piccioli has created a collection that embodies glamour and excitement while simultaneously keeping each look ethereal and dreamy. However, the heart that was put into this show is what truly shines. The entirety of the show pulled inspiration from Valentino’s beginnings and birthplace: Rome, Italy. Piccioli writes on his Instagram, “The Beginning. Roma is the place where everything starts. The life, the people, our stories and identities are here. We belong to this place as much as this place belongs to the world and to Valentino.”
